HAY-based author Kate Clarke, who admits she is fascinated by murder, returns to the subject in her latest book, A Lethal Alliance, published by Carrington Press.
The new book covers two 19th century cases, the first that of Christiana Edmunds, a Brighton spinster who developed an inappropriate attachment to Dr Charles Beard and tried to poison his wife, but succeeded in killing a four-year-old boy, and Sarah Gale who became attached to James Greenacre, a scheming philanderer who killed and dismembered his fiancee, Hannah Brown and had Sarah clear up afterwards.
A Lethal Alliance follows Kate's 2013 title, Bad Companions: Six London Murderesses who Shocked the World, and later this year a further title on a similar theme, Fatal Affairs, will be published.
A Lethal Alliance is available from Addyman's Murder & Mayhem bookshop, Lion Street, Hay-on-Wye, and online at amazon.co.uk
