THIEVES made off with the safe from Leominster’s OK Diner in daring heist, but police are closing in on suspects by using audio recordings picked up by the burglar alarm.
The American-styled diner, located off the A49, was targeted between 10.20pm and 11.10pm on Wednesday night.
The thieves pulled the restaurant's safe out of the floor, leaving its shocked owners to find an empty hole in the ground when they arrived on the scene.
Fortunately the safe contained only a small amount of cash, West Mercia Police have said.
There was no CCTV footage available of the incident however detectives are using an audio recording to help track down the culprits.
Anyone with information of the burglary should call 101 and quote incident number 697 from September 24.
