RECORD-breaking cyclist Julian Sayarer will visit Ross-on-Wye as part of his 1000 mile journey around the UK, promoting his book Life Cycles and fundraising for the Living Wage Foundation.
On the tour, Julian will tell the story of how he left his job as a London bicycle messenger and set off to take a world record for a circumnavigation by bicycle. He rode 18,049 miles in 169 days, Riding 110 miles a day for six months, on only £7.82 a day, through jungles, snow and 20 different countries. He was stranded without money in the deserts of Kazakhstan, bitten by a dog in North Carolina, and he slept under motorway bridges in China. As he travelled around the world he met all sorts of people, and whether their job was mechanic, bicycle messenger, shop assistant or farmer, the common factor - from London to China and the USA - was good people working hard just to stay poor.
