BESTSELLING author Jen Campbell will talk about her latest book, The Bookshop Book, at Rossiter Books in Ross-on-Wye on Thursday, November 27.
After studying English Literature at Edinburgh University, Jen moved to north London to sell books and write stories. She works part-time at an antiquarian bookshop, and her first book, Weird Things Customers Say in Bookshops, published in 2012, was a Sunday Times Bestseller. The sequel, More Weird Things Customers Say in Bookshops, was released in 2013. The Bookshop Book is published by Constable/Little, Brownand is the official book of the 2014 Books Are My Bag campaign. It looks at bookshops in barns, disused factories, converted churches and underground car parks. Bookshops on boats, on buses, and in old run-down train stations. Fold-out bookshops, undercover bookshops, this-is-the-best-place-I’ve-ever-been-to-bookshops.
From the oldest bookshop in the world, to the smallest you could imagine, The Bookshop Book examines the history of books, talks to authors about their favourite places, and looks at more 300 weirdly wonderful bookshops across six continents, a love letter to bookshops all around the world.
Tickets for the talk on November 27 at 7pm, are available from Rossiter books in Ross (01989 5644640) and Monmouth (01600 775572) or online from rossiterbooks.co.uk
