The Football Association hopes to be in a position tomorrow to explain whether or not Hereford United and its majority shareholder have complied with their obligations under the owners’ and directors’ test.
On Monday, an Independent Regulatory Commission determined that charges brought against Hereford United and Alan McCarthy in relation to the owners’ test were proven.
Hereford United had accepted the charge while Mr McCarthy, the club’s majority shareholder, had failed to respond. Both were fined £500 and warned to comply with the obligations by 4pm today.
Failure to do so would, the FA said, result in the club’s and Mr McCarthy’s automatic and immediate suspension from all football until such a time that both parties have either complied with the requirements of the owners’ and directors’ test regulations or Mr McCarthy has divested his shareholding in Hereford United so he is no longer an officer of the club.
An FA press officer told the Hereford Times shortly after today’s 4pm deadline that any news “takes time to filter down” but hoped that an update would be available by tomorrow.
