A 19-YEAR-old working at an expanding Hereford company won an award for being the best first year engineering apprentice in the county.
Cameron Prewer is an apprentice at Bijur Delimon in Rotherwas and was recognised at the Herefordshire Group Training Association awards.
He was commended for his mature attitude, self motivation and for always being willing to help out.
He was presented with his award by Olympic silver medallist Leon Taylor who spoke at the event.
Bijur Delimon is an industrial supplier of lubrication systems, which continues to expand.
The Hereford base is looking for larger premises for when their lease runs out in September 2015.
Another ten members of staff will be taken on over the next 12 months.
Managing director Steve Hayward said they struggle to attract apprentices as some people don't seem to have heard of the company.
He said: "People in Hereford have generally heard of Denco, previously located in Holmer Road and now located to Moreton.
"We were part of that business up until 2004 when our division (lubrication/engineering) was sold to the worldwide group Bijur Delimon International. We left Holmer Road and moved to our present site on the Rotherwas Industrial Estate.
"In the last ten years we have quadrupled our turnover and now employ over 130 employees throughout the UK of which 50+ are in Hereford."
