A HEREFORD Cathedral School teacher is in the running to be crowned biology teacher of the year.
Elena Segalini-Bower has been listed as a finalist for The Society of Biology’s 2015 annual awards.
As a finalist, Mrs Segalini- Bower has been acknowledged by the society as one of the year’s top three teachers of the science.
The award, with the winner to be announced later this year following a final stage of judging, seeks to identify and to recognise the very best and most inspiring biology teachers in 11 to 18 education.
Mrs Segalini-Bower said: “It was amazing to be nominated, but to be shortlisted as a finalist is a true honour!
“My thanks must firstly go to the school and my department, but I must also thank all the pupils for making biology such a joy to teach.”
Cathedral headmaster Paul Smith added: “I am delighted that Elena’s hard work has been recognised.”
