PROFESSIONAL artist Richard Bavin will present a masterclass at Hereford College of Arts (HCA) on Thursday, March 26, providing budding artists with a fantastic opportunity to view and discuss his work, followed by a short teaching session with time for questions and answers.
Richard is an artist who explores light, weather and mood in the landscapes of Herefordshire. His passion for trees and woodland is the focus for many of his drawings and paintings, and he has also completed a two-year project in the Brecon Beacons. He works outside all year round, often spending hours sitting quietly in one place to soak in the mood of his location. He then distils these experiences and memories into studio paintings in oil, watercolour and acrylic.
Richard exhibits regionally in public and commercial galleries and has taken part in a number of residencies including Nature in Art.
During the masterclass Richard will present his work in seminar style, and enable people to develop a series of drawings and paintings on the theme of trees using his working methods as a springboard for their own creativity.
The masterclass is part of HCA’s extensive short course programme for adults wishing to enjoy hobbies and develop professional skills, offering daytime and evening classes in fine art, video and photography, computer graphics, design crafts and business workshops.
Richard’s masterclass will take place at the College’s Folly Lane Campus from 9:30 – 4:00pm on Thursday 26th March. For more details and to book a space, visit hca.ac.uk or call 01432 273359.
