EVERYBODY knows that without money you cannot do anything, that is why our economy is the most important issue at this election.
It is only by having a strong economy that we can invest in education, fill in potholes and improve the NHS.
In 2010 Labour had left Britain’s economy in a mess and even left a note that said: “There is no money.”
Ever since the government has been working to a long-term economic plan to put things right.
We have protected and increased the NHS budget, we have ensured work always pays and we have supported business and enterprise.
As North Herefordshire’s economy has grown, the unemployment rate has fallen to a record low.
It fell again by nearly 350 since 2014, 70 people have taken advantage of the Government’s New Enterprise Allowance Scheme to move off benefits and start their own businesses and 72 families have accessed affordable mortgages thanks to ‘Help to Buy’.
Nationally income tax has been cut for over 26 million people, 1.9 million more people are in work with 1,000 jobs being created a day, the state pension has been increased by £950 and the deficit has been cut in half.
Importantly for Herefordshire beer duty has now been cut for the third year in a row and cider duty has been cut by 2 per cent following a freeze last year.
Of course there is more still to be done.
Only the Conservatives can finish the job and fix the economy so that it works for everyone at every part of their lives.
A Conservative Government will ensure working people are secure through every stage of their lives from a good primary school place, to securing a first job, to raising a family and dignity in retirement.
