A HEREFORDSHIRE man who began his musical career at Hereford Cathedral has been appointed director of music at Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral.
Timothy Noon, 33, who is currently organist and master of choristers at St David's Cathedral, Pembrokeshire, will take up the new post in September.
Mr Noon started his career as a chorister with Hereford Cathedral choir and learnt the organ with Dr Roy Massey.
At 17, he was appointed organ scholar of Canterbury Cathedral and the following year became organ scholar at Christ Church, Oxford, where he also read for a degree in music.
After posts in Dublin and Canterbury, he was appointed organist and master of the choristers of St David's Cathedral in Pembrokeshire.
As an organist, Mr Noon is a frequent solo performer and has given concerts in St Paul's Cathedral and Westminster Abbey, as well as touring throughout Europe with cathedral choirs.
