A NEW exhibition from local artists in collaboration with a local residential home opens at The Courtyard tomorrow.
Travelling by Moonlight is a collaborative project by Jeannette McCulloch, with local artists and residents at The Forbury Residential Home in Leominster, a project supported by Arts Council England.
Jeannette’s work consists of fragile textile panels with collage-like arrangements of words and images, which seeks to capture the spirit of a place and of human endeavour.
Jeannette describes Travelling by Moonlight as “a ‘conversation’ from which a deep richness is being extracted; intuitive, responsive and reflective. There is great reward in bringing together people with different skills and ideas, which invariably leads to interesting conversations and observations. It is liberating to work with people in an interactive and instinctive way, and ultimately it is a way that challenges me.”
The exhibition also includes work by Gez Hughes, Marsha O’Mahony and Tom Rees and John Rose, who have worked with residents at The Forbury and contributed to the project.
Travelling by Moonlight will be launched today to coincide with Remember Me a fun filled day at The Courtyard aiming to raise awareness about dementia.
Travelling by Moonlight can be seen in The Courtyard gallery space until Sunday, July 12, from 9am to late, Monday to Saturday and from 10am to 5pm on Sundays.
