THE Artful Hare, a new book featuring the original prints of 74 British printmakers, including Victoria Keeble from The Hay Makers Gallery in Hay-on-Wye, is arguably the biggest collection of hare-themed artwork ever assembled in book form, with 375 different images. Each artist comments on their particular fascination with the animal, which is becoming increasingly rare but is still classed as game. The variety and quality of the work is remarkable, with linocuts, wood engravings, collagraphs, woodcuts, etchings and screen-prints.
The Hay Makers Gallery will be exhibiting the officially licensed jewellery for the book, Guess How Much I Love You?, celebrating 20 years since the book was first published, and the author, Sam McBratney will be reading at Hay Festival. The Gallery will also be exhibiting jewellery by Charlie High and Angela Learoyd, prints by Frances Carlile and ceramics by Karen McPhail, alongside work by the Hay Makers co-operative members and a selected visiting artists, including jewellery from Timbuktu.
The Artful Hare and original prints by Victoria Keeble will be at The Hay Makers Gallery until Sunday, July 12.
