THE Treacle Mine in St Martin's Street in Hereford has closed until further notice as the licensees have decided it is time for a belated honeymoon.
Jen and Cliff McMahon ran the South Wye pub for five and a half years but rang last orders for the last time at the weekend to take a well-deserved rest.
Mrs McMahon said: "It wasn't going to be common knowledge until we had all the final plans in place, but basically we are going to have some time out because we still haven't been able to have our honeymoon since we've been married, which was in 2010.
"Cliff is a keen rail enthusiast, so we plan to explore Europe using as many of the rail routes as we can. Our first stop will be Switzerland."
The Treacle Mine is a free-of-tie public house. It is not leased from anyone and the freehold will be on the market at the end of the week.
Mrs McMahon said they had great memories and had made some great friends, but "all good things must come to an end."
She thanked everybody for their support.
