POLICE are investigating an incident in which a teenager was threatened with a knife in Hereford city centre.

The 15-year-old boy was walking along Church Street at around 9.25pm when he was approached from behind by an unknown male. The male caught hold of the victim and held a knife to his chest and muttered something which the victim was unable to understand. The victim then elbowed his assailant to the ribs and was able to escape, with the assailant running away along Church Street. No injuries were suffered by the victim who was nevertheless shaken, but able to make his way home to report the incident to police.

The city centre would have been busy at the time due to the Mayfair and police are keen from anyone who may have witnessed the incident, which happened close to the tobacconist's store. The assailant was described only as male and wearing a white hoody, blue baseball cap and black tracksuit bottoms.

Anyone who saw this male as he left the area, or has information about the incident, is asked to contact PC Emma Rudgard-James at Hereford Police Station on 08457 444888 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
