POLICE have repeated their warning the public to be on their guard against distraction burglars following a further reported incident in Hereford city.
At around 5pm on Thursday, May 10, three men called at a house in Ethlestan Crescent posing as water board' officials. They said they needed to check the water as it was thought there may be poison' in the supply.
It is thought that while the elderly householder was distracted by one of the men, another entered the house via another door and began a search. Cash was subsequently discovered to be missing after the men had left.
The first male was described as being white, aged around 25-30, with short dark curly hair. He wore a dark length coat, possibly leather or suede.
The other two men were also white and one was said to have curly black hair. One man is believed to have been wearing a fluorescent jacket and was stood in Ethelstan Crescent while the offence took place.
The incident follows two others in April in which homes in Freda Pearce Close and Mayberry Avenue were targeted by men posing as water board officials, although nothing was stolen on these occasions despite entry being gained to the houses.
