PRESTEIGNE and neighbouring historical hamlet Discoed are once again to be the venue for a weekend of first-class musical events, directed by David Hatcher.
Early Music at Discoed 2007, sponsored by Border Marches Early Music Forum, kicks off on Friday, May 25, in St Andrew's Church, Presteigne, with a concert of baroque concertos given by the period instrument ensemble, the Corelli Orchestra.
The festival continues on Saturday with a workshop for singers and instrumentalists, led by David Hatcher and fellow Corelli Orchestra member Jonathan Morgan, in which Handel's magnificent Ode on St Cecilia's Day will be studied in preparation for an informal performance at the end of the day.
The grand finale is the banquet on Saturday night, held in the spectacular surroundings of Upper House, Discoed, with authentic food, period dancing led by Passamezzo and thrilling music by The Border Waites.
