A COUNTY animal charity is appealing for a home for a blind dog who was cruelly abandoned in stormy weather.

Hereford and Worcester Animal Rescue is urgently trying to find a new home for Rocky, a blind collie rottweiler cross, whose owners left him tied up to a fence in torrential rain and gales. The owners also abandoned their cat at the same time.

A charity spokesman said: "We received a call from the owners earlier that afternoon demanding that we take the animals immediately. We explained it wasn't possible to take them straightaway but that we would arrange for them to come in on Monday.

"Later on, we received a call to say a dog had been found tied to railings near Leominster. The poor dog, who is totally blind, was sodden and terrified."

Rocky is a little nervous initially around other dogs and would not be suited to a home with very small children but he has lived happily with a cat, is around four years old and is the size of a small collie.

Anyone wishing to offer Rocky a home should telephone 01885 482967 or 01981 540009.
