A MOTORCYCLING MP is backing moves to stem the number of bikers who are killed and injured on Herefordshire roads.
Leominster MP Bill Wiggin was among the first to have his riding skills checked by Worcester and Hereford Advanced Motorcyclists (WHAM).
The group, affiliated to the Institute of Advanced Motorists, was formed in January and has already signed up 50 members.
West Mercia police are supporting the initiative as part of its BikeSafe scheme to improve bikers' skills.
Last year, two motorcyclists were killed on Herefordshire roads, 22 riders and passengers were seriously injured and 41 slightly injured.
Safety advice and information is available on the police website at www.westmercia.police.uk
