HEREFORDSHIRE Council is urging people to think of ways they can reduce the amount of waste they send to landfill sites.
To help with ideas, council staff will be on hand at the market in Ross-on-Wye on Thursday, May 24 and at the market in Corn Square in Leominster on Friday, June 1.
At both events there will be a display including a working food waste disposer, demonstrating how waste disposers can help to reduce the amount of food waste going to landfill.
If residents of Herefordshire fit food waste disposers in their kitchens, the council will actually help to pay for them under their 'Sink Your Waste' cashback scheme with grants of up to £80 available.
Garden shredders will be on display too and these can help people to reduce the amount of green waste they generate and make good compost at the same time.
Council staff will also be happy to talk about other ways of reducing waste including how to reduce the amount of junk mail people have to throw away.
Laura Preece, Herefordshire Council's recycling officer, said: "It can be really useful for people to see for themselves how easy it is to recycle and I would urge as many householders as can to come along and find out more."
