A MAN holidaying in Herefordshire was taken to hospital after being trampled by a herd of cows.
The man, from Surrey, was walking his dog in fields near Clehonger when the cattle struck.
He was spotted by people in a nearby cottage who went to his aid before calling the emergency services.
"When the villagers approached the man, one of the cows was still standing on him," said Ian O'Conner, an Emergency Care Practioner at the scene.
"He had a potentially serious chest injury which I was able to relieve at the scene but it still required urgent hospital attention," he added.
"He also had a dislocated right knee and a fracture to his left wrist."
The man was taken to Hereford County Hospital for further assessment and treatment.
It is not yet clear what caused the incident.
