HEREFORD shop owner Ali Baker wanted to raise the profile of the work of the Red Cross, so organised a window competition for local shops.
Ali, of Cook's haven in Church Street, works as a voluntary fund raiser for the charity and hit upon the idea of asking other businesses in Church Street to dress their windows in red and white.
Seventeen shops agreed to take part and the Red Cross provided literature on local projects and collection tins to help the stores get kitted out.
Ali said: "The Red Cross does a lot of good work in the Hereford area and I just want to make people more aware of that. It was great that so many local shops agreed to help."
It was revealed the winning window belonged to Mousetrap, run by Ann Clinton.
