A MAN has been fined for urinating in a police cell and smearing blood on the walls and floors.
Luke Murphy, 27, of Temple Meadow, Little Hereford, Ludlow changed his plea to guilty on the day of his trial for criminal damage to a police cell.
On October 20 at 3.20am Murphy was in custody in Hereford Police Station for a different matter, when officers saw on CCTV that he was biting his hand and smearing his blood on the walls and floors. He was then seen urinating on the cell floor.
Chris Morgan, mitigating, said Murphy is subject to a community order for another matter, which is going well and he is addressing his alcohol problem.
He said Murphy was drunk at the time of the offence, and said he was also drinking at the time he first pleaded not guilty.
At Hereford Magistrates' Court, Murphy was fined £130, ordered to pay £50 to police for cleaning the cell, £620 prosecution costs and a victim surcharge of £20.
