THE Barton Hill Centre will be open to the public on Monday for the first time in three years to raise money for the Wheels to the Woods project.

Many of the animals from the centre will be on display and visitors will have a chance to see what the centre can offer to people with additional learning needs who would like to visit and spend time with animals and horticulture.

The centre provides a permanent home for rescued wildlife that cannot be released back into the wild, such as Blinky, the one-eyed tawny owl who was the victim of a road accident.

One of the youngest residents is Lily, an orphaned fox cub who is now eight weeks old and will eventually join two adult foxes, Kanga and Foxy.

There will be opportunities for visitors to handle the animals.

Wheels to the Woods is a project designed to create wheelchair access to an area of unspoilt woodland .

The centre is situated just off the B4347 near Pontrilas and will be open from 11am to 4.30pm.
