HEREFORD children inspired by the international Education for All campaign have raised £2,832 to help a school in Uganda.
The Bishop of Hereford's Bluecoat School had produced an aerial photograph in which 1,800 people, including pupils and staff, spelt out the words education for all.
The money they raised has been spent on equipment and building materials for the New Rock School in Uganda.
Now the school is asking Angela Merkel, the German Chancellor, to help. Sian Howells, aged 15, has written to Ms Merkel, who will chair the G8 summit next month, urging her to ensure the summit sticks to its target that all young people will have access to at least a primary school education by 2015.
