A TREE which was originally planted by royalty has been replaced in a Herefordshire village.
The tree in the centre of Holme Lacy was blown down around two years ago in a storm.
It was planted in 1902 by Princess Beatrice, the daughter of Queen Victoria, to commemorate her visit to Holme Lacy House.
She was in Hereford to lay the foundation stone for the new Hereford town hall.
The village's parish council has now planted another tree, as it had become a landmark in the village.
Herefordshire and Ludlow College's Holme Lacy campus will provide railings to go around the tree later in the year.
