After all the pre-rally competitions, there were only 355 points separating the top three of the 18 clubs in the Herefordshire Federation of YFCs at their annual County Rally on Saturday held at Lower House Farm, Canon Frome, by permission of the Gilbert family.
Ledbury, Hereford and Welsh Newton all vied for top honours. But it was local club Ledbury, hosting the rally in its 63rd year, who pulled away on the day to establish a final lead of 393 points, following a valiant effort by runners-up Hereford. Last year's winners, Welsh Newton, were placed a creditable third.
But it was Ross YFC, newcomers to the competitions programme after having only re-opened in September last year who pulled off an amazing fifth place overall.
