The Cor Godre'r Aran, one of Wales' premier choirs will be singing at Lady Hawkins' School, Kington on June 30.
The choir was formed in 1949 in Llanuwchllyn, a village nestling between the shores Lake Bala and the Aran mountain - an inspiring location and an area steeped in history, literature and music.
Over the years the choir has travelled extensively, with tours to Canada, USA, Argentina, Brazil, Hong Kong, Singapore, Portugal and in 2003 returned home from its third tour of New Zealand and its seventh to Australia. In 2005 and 2006 Côr Godre'r Aran participated in the Saint Patrick's Day celebrations in Macroom, County Cork. A return visit to Patagonia is proposed for the Autumn of 2007.
The 46 members are from varying occupations but most originate from farming and rural backgrounds.
The cost of tickets will be £10 to include supper. Tickets for the venue which starts at 7.30pm can be obtained by calling Dick Allford on 01544 231052. This is a fundraising event for Kington Horse Show and Agricultural Society and is kindly sponsored by Tarmac Western.
