A VACANT riverside pub could be turned into four homes if a planning application is approved.
Mark Dew of the Malt Shovel Inn in Ruardean has applied for a change of use to turn The Riverside Inn in Ross-on-Wye into four two-bed dwellings.
Architect Richard Ball said in the planning application to Herefordshire Council: "My client advises that the property is now un-let and boarded up because there is no
financial viability to its use as licensed premises."
He said there is a precedent for change of use of licensed premises within Ross and listed The Plough Inn in Walford Road and The Stag in Henry Street- both of which were changed to residential use.
Mr Ball said The Vine Tree Inn in Walford Road has recently been given change of use to a veterinary practice.
He said the change will not remove facilities in the area as the Hope and Anchor is 100 metres away.
Residents can comment on the planning application until Thursday, March 24.
