THE life of Herefordshire's adopted war heroine will be one of those remembered at the seventh annual Violette Szabo Memorial Gathering.
Violette Szabo, in her early years, enjoyed many family holidays in the county.
She went on to become a secret agent in the Second World War before she was captured, tortured and eventually executed in a German concentration camp.
Denise Bloch was a resistance worker turned secret agent who died at the same time as Violette at Ravensbruck Prison.
Jean-Pierre Barrault, Denise's brother, will be a special guest speaker at the gathering. Organiser and curator of the Violette Szabo Museum Rosemary Rigby said it was an honour to welcome Mr Barrault as he was coming all the way from France to take part.
The event will be held at Cartref House, Wormelow, on June 23 starting at 2pm. For more information contact Miss Rigby on 01981 540477.
