THE current exhibition at the GreenStage Gallery in Bishop's Frome features the work of Mary Edwards and Antony Purser, supported by regular gallery exhibitors.
Mary Edwards has spent most of her life in the country and nearly all of that in the Wye Valley. Her oil paintings offer intriguing views of rural life, which, though contemporary, are intensely nostalgic, rustic snapshots of a way of life that many may be tempted to think has long passed by.
She says of her paintings: “They reflect the small moments of time from happy memories and imagination that have been part of my country life for more years than I care to remember.”
Antony Purser says of his work: "I just love drawing, the excitement of making a line; giving it meaning and life. Ideas come from places and situations. From simple observed studies I enjoy the process of breaking down images towards abstracted conclusions."
The exhibition runs until Sunday, May 15. Open Tuesday to Saturday, 10am to 5.30pm, Sunday, 12 noon to 5pm. Closed Monday, except Bank Holidays.
