TEMPORARY traffic signals are to be erected next Monday (June 11) at the junction of Holme Lacy Road, Gatehouse Road and Chapel Lane.

These lights will be needed for about two weeks to allow the council's contractors, McAlpine, to carry out ducting works associated with the construction of Rotherwas Access Road in safety.

During the course of these two weeks the traffic lights will be two-way or four-way (off-peak) depending on how close to the junction the contractor will be working.

After two weeks the lights will be removed, but it is envisaged that lights will be required at a later date (early - mid July) for a longer period of time for construction of a new four-arm roundabout at this junction.

More detailed information will be provided closer to this time.

A temporary closure will also come into effect in July which will close Gatehouse Road from its junction with Holme Lacy Road to its junction with Netherwood Road to enable construction of the roundabout.

Public notices will be issued towards the end of June giving due notice of this closure.

It is anticipated, at this stage, that the closure will be in place for a period of around 12 weeks.

The junction of Gatehouse Road and Netherwood Road (which is currently closed) will be opened during this time.

Every effort will be made to minimse delays.
