SUPERMARKET staff and local schoolchildren are teaming up to clean up the streets of Hereford.
Workers from Sainsbury's in Barton Road and pupils from Lord Scudamore Primary School will pick litter and sweep the area at the store's entrance as part of Herefordshire Council's new initiative Streetscene.
Sainsbury's store manager Nigel Fox said: "We relish the idea of working with the local community and look forward to working with the Streetscene campaign".
A total of 50 pupils from Lord Scudamore have been given Streescene fluorescent vests and animal-headed litter pickers to help them clean up.
Councillor John Jarvis, cabinet member for the environment and strategic housing, said: "I would like to thank everyone for supporting Streetscene in this practical way, if people see that this area is clean and tidy they will try to keep it that way".
