A HEREFORD pupil has hit a high note after landing a place at a prestigious music school.
Stephanie Bissell, of Elm Road, Hereford, is studying the clarinet under music teacher Rebecca Griffiths at Aylestone High School, but from September will study the instrument at Chetham's School of Music.
The Manchester school is the largest specialist music school in the UK, and will give Stephanie the chance to play in chamber groups, choirs and school orchestras.
Music takes up around a third of the timetable, giving students around three hours of music a day.
Students from the school regularly play in music venues such as the Royal Northern College of Music and Manchester's Bridgewater Hall, as well as competing in competitions such as the BBC Young Musician of the Year.
