A record number of county farms will be celebrating Open Farm Sunday.

Herefordshire farmers have once again risen to the challenge and on Sunday, which has been declared Open Farm Sunday, they will be leading the way in the West Midlands with the number of farms that are open to the public.

Twenty two Herefordshire farms will be opening their gates, giving everyone an opportunity to find out more about why farms matter.

People will be able to enjoy a range of activities, including nature trails, farm walks, tractor and trailer rides, pond dipping, activities for kids, mini farmers markets - every farm visit will give a different experience.

Organised by LEAF (Linking Environment And Farming), the day promises something for everyone but, most importantly, the day will help to remind us all that farms do matter.

So, make a date in the diary, pack up a picnic and visit a local farm on Sunday for a great day out.

To find out more, visit www.farmsunday.org or call Herefordshire Rural Hub on 01432 870033.

Lower Blakemere farm is one of the farms taking part.

There'll be a range of fun things to do from 2pm to 5pm, including Farmer Phil's Safari Tour, homemade tea and cakes, a nature trail, pond dipping and sitting on a tractor.

To book a tractor and trailer ride, e-mail Farmer Phil on pwg@lowerblakemere.co.uk or call 01981 500432.
