RIVER Lugg Internal Drainage Board members, led by newly elected chairman Charles Pudge, inspected key flood-prevention sites.
They took a look at drainage at Leominster's Southern Avenue Industrial Estate, the town's new Enterprise Park and at the Wellington Brook, which has been subject to major improvements since floods at Easter 1998.
Members found the banks of the brook could now be flail-mowed to maximise the channel capacity.
Work was also in progress on Moreton Brook at Moreton-on-Lugg. Fallen willow trees brought down by winter gales were being removed, remaining trees were being pollarded and banks were being re-shaped.
The party also visited Barons Cross, Leominster, where developers building 425 new homes plan to discharge storm-water to Ebnall Ditch via an attenuation pond and pipeline.
The chairman thanked John Meredith, the board's main contractor, for his work.
