THE biggest community read ever has begun and Herefordshire libraries are joining in.

Described by The Times as "a luminously beautiful book", Black Swan Green tells the story of Jason Taylor, a 13-year-old growing up in rural Worcestershire at the time of the Falklands War.

The scheme aims to unite reading groups around Britain in reading Black Swan Green in June and July with support from the publisher, Sceptre, who will provide books, posters and sample chapters.

There are plenty of copies of the book to borrow from libraries across Herefordshire as well as sets of the book for readers' groups.

The Ross-on-Wye book group will be discussing Black Swan Green on Thursday, June 14, at 6.30pm in Ross Library. Anyone who has read the book and would like to go along and join in the discussion is welcome.

We have five copies of Black Swan Green to give away. All you have to do is answer the following question about the book for your chance to win. The first five correct entries drawn will win a copy.

Jason Taylor in Black Swan Green fancies himself as a bit of a poet. But what is his pseudonym?
