A LEADING christian organisation celebrate 125 years in the city later this month.

The Hereford branch of the Salvation Army was founded in 1882 and is still going strong to this day.

To celebrate the anniversary, an exhibition featuring various aspects of the Salvation Army's work will be on display at their Canonmoor Street base. This will include an area devoted to the army's history as well as information on the community work they do in Herefordshire.

An anniversary tea and reflection will round off the weekend.

Captain Steve Brevitt from the Hereford church said: "These events are open to anyone.

"People can come down and really make themselves aware of what the Salvation Army do."

The exhibition will be held at the church between 10am and 6pm on Friday and Saturday, June 22 and 23. The tea and reflection takes place on Sunday (24th) at 4pm.
