EARDISLEY rider Louise Skelton has been in fine form in recent weeks and narrowly missed a top ten finish at a prestigious horse trial.

Skelton and her horse A Bit of a Barney' finished thirteenth at the CCI*** Bramham International Horse Trials at Yorkshire, and produced one of the performances of the day in the Cross County phase.

The pair found themselves in 44th position but they leapt 30 places after an incredible run in the Cross Country Round. The pair eventually finished a place higher, but a downed fence on the show jumping phase denied them a worthy finish in the top 10.

Skelton's accomplished performance at Bramham followed Intermediate and Novice wins at Aston-Le-Walls and Stockland Lovell, while she also finished runner-up and fourth on Evamore and Dawning at the recent Welsh Championships at Chepstow. She also claimed an 18th place finish at the CCI** Tattersalls event in Ireland on another horse, Loubar Showman.

Louise will be in action this weekend at Longleat, where she will compete on five horses in the Novice, Intermediate and CIC** sections.

6 Louise Skelton and Evamore were runners-up at the Welsh Championships.
