POLICE have confirmed the identity of a woman who died following a road traffic collision on the A480 Norton Canon to Sarnesfield road.

Barbara Todd, aged 51 of Mortimer's Cross near Leominster, was driving a BMW car when it was in collision with a Land Rover Freelander at around 5.20pm on Friday, a mile south of the A4112 junction.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The female driver of the Freelander was treated for shock while a male passenger suffered shock and bruising.

The Herefordshire Coroner has been informed of the death and a post mortem is due to take place today.

An inquest into Miss Todd's death is likely to be opened and adjourned later today.

Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses to the collision. It is believed that the Freelander was headed south towards Norton Canon and the BMW in the opposite direction when the collision occurred.

Further to yesterday's media appeal, police can now confirm the age of a motorcycle rider killed in a collision on the A49 at Callow on Sunday, June 17.

Rory Kilgannon, who was 36 and from Newport in Gwent, was the rider of a Kawasaki motorcycle which was in collision with a Suzuki motorcycle at around 3.20pm. The rider of the Suzuki motorcycle - Grzegorz Majewski, a 29 year old Polish national from Hampton Bishop - also died in the collision.

Two other motorcyles were also involved and the riders of both were taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision, which occurred on the three-lane section of the A49 on the Callow hill.
