A DISTINGUISHED army officer who recently addressed Tony Blair when he was in Africa has become a CBE.
Brigadier Iain Cholerton RRW received the award for outstanding service to the Army following an impressive tenure as the senior officer in Wales.
The 50-year-old, from north Herefordshire, was previously the Commander of the 160 Wales Brigade and oversaw the group from its Brecon base for three years.
The Brigadier has enjoyed an illustrious 27-year career with the Royal Regiment of Wales and has worked with British forces in many of the world's hotspots, including Iraq.
He is married to Karen and the couple have lived near Leominster for the past seven years.
He is now the county's top military training officer and he was recently deployed to Sierra Leone to head Brtiain's International Military and Training Team (IMATT).
There, the Brigadier is training peacekeeping forces and he recently discussed the issue with Tony Blair during the PM's farewell tour of Africa.
