SUPPORT for a radiotherapy service at Hereford County Hospital has come from across the border in Brecon and Radnorshire.

MP Roger Williams said he was 100% behind a campaign to persuade the Three Counties Cancer Network to agree to a satellite unit in Hereford.

He said many cancer sufferers from Powys had to travel to Cheltenham for the service, meaning a 150-mile round trip, sometimes on a daily basis.

"This is an exhausting process for patients and the costs involved are an extra strain on scarce NHS resources. The stress of such travelling cannot be helpful to patients," said Mr Williams.

"The creation of new radiotherapy facilities in Hereford and the prospect of mobile chemotherapy units going to Powys would benefit local people."
