BROMYARD Methodist Church is marking its 150th anniversary with a host of events spread over a fortnight in July.

The celebrations start with the Sunday School Anniversary service on July 15, with children from Brockhampton Primary School and the Rev Ivor Sperring, who will be making a return to the church having been its Minister from 1970 to 1978.

On the following Tuesday at 7.30pm members of the Bromyard & District Choral Society will lead the Church in the singing of hymns written by one of the early leading figures of Methodism, Charles Wesley, in celebration of this year also being 300 years since his birth.

A flower festival and exhibition of crafts by Church members takes place on July 21, 22 and 23. There will be refreshments served and a book of church history and commemorative coasters on sale. The festival is on from 10am to 6pm on the Saturday, 2pm to 6pm on the Sunday, and 10am to 1pm on the Monday.

That Sunday also sees the church host it's main Anniversary Service, which will be taken by the Rev Bill Anderson, chair of the Birmingham District of the Methodist Church, and the Rev Jayne Webb, Bromyard's current Minister. The service starts at 10.30am and afterwards lunch will be served in the Public Hall, tickets for which are £9 each.

On Tuesday, July 24 at 7.30pm there will be an organ recital by Pamela Colverson, admission £5, before two services on July 29.

The morning will be taken by Rev Catherine Campbell Hyde, Superintendent Minister for the Malvern and Ledbury Circuit, while in the evening there is a United Service with Rev Jayne Webb.
