THE dig for Derek Saville will go into a second day.
Forensic experts analysing the scene, a field at Nupton, near Canon Pyon, have said they need more time to excavate the site and assess soil for trace evidence of human remains.
Bursts of heavy rain have hampered the painstaking operation throughout today and the site will be kept sealed and under guard over night.
Already, the experts are saying that the pipe underwhich Saville is believed to have been buried seems to have been relayed in the 1970s, possibly scattering any skeletal remains beneath.
