WORKERS at a Ledbury factory have been warned it may close.

Premier Foods has announced its intention to commence consultation over the proposed closure.

The company acquired RHM in March and has reviewed its combined manufacturing facilities.

Now, says the company, after careful consideration of 11 overlapping sites it is commencing consultation on proposals to restructure some of its manufacturing sites which would mean the closure of the Ledbury site by September 2008.

The Ledbury factory currently employs 177 people. Products currently manufactured on the site, including Robertson's jams, suet and mincemeat, will transfer to Histon in Cambridgeshire.
