THE Best Presented Award goes to the HBID member business in Hereford that is trying to improve the shopping environment by presenting their shop front at its best.
This could be through eye catching window displays that helps to draw customers in or could be by keeping their building looking at its best through regular cleaning and decorative touch ups.
The finalists are: The Kup-cake Kitchen Cafe; Pritchards Menswear and Tanners Wines Ltd.
For many years, the Tanners wine merchant Hereford branch in St Owen Street has created attractive, eye-catching window displays and this year has been no exception.
Their displays have included a "Ginspiration" window, to promote their forthcoming gin cocktail tasting, plus beautiful regional displays such as a South African window, filled with interesting maps of the region, attractive bottles and colourful flags, and a seasonal window with wines recommended to match the weather, displaying seasonal fruit.
Whenever possible, they are always keen to promote local produce and regularly display local beers and ciders in the window. The property frontage and interior are always maintained to a high standard, including vibrant hanging baskets.
The Kup-cake Kitchen Display in Union Street has become recognised for their striking window displays, which are associated with upcoming events and seasons.
There are often people standing outside admiring their displays- such as the Valentine's table for two, the witch's kitchen (complete with flying broomsticks), Father Christmas' living room with roaring fire, snow and a glass of sherry, and the summer evening in the garden scene. They draw up designs for their windows months in advance.
They stand out in Union street, and have become recognised by their topiary hedges that welcome customers through their front doors.
Pritchards Menswear in King Street sees retail as a form of theatre and aims to give the best experience from a visual perspective.
They spend a lot of time in the lighting and display of products and have travelled widely to assimilate changes in retailing, but always to adapt it with regard to their knowledge of customers and their needs.
They have been finalists in national retail awards three times and once for best shop design. Over the years they have entered many display competitions and have won in four national and one European competition.
