CHILDREN from inner city London who witnessed the horrors of the Grenfell Tower disaster were treated to a break in Herefordshire.
Thirteen children who live in the shadow of the wreckage enjoyed a half term break in Oaker Wood near Leominster recently.
The trip, organised by Harrow W10 Youth Club, which is part funded by Children in Need, provided the children with a welcome break from reality and an opportunity to explore the great outdoors.
"These children all lost a teacher in the Grenfell Tower disaster and knew others who were made homeless by the disaster," said Youth Club Manager, Mathilde Glossop.
"It is an amazing experience for them to stay in the woodland for three nights in the Glamping Pods – hide and seek in the dark, cooking outdoor pizzas, quad biking, paintballing and zip wires.
"These children have witnessed some terrible sights over the summer and it is wonderful to see them running around and playing in the woods. We hope to bring a larger group of children back to Oaker Wood next summer, and are seeking funding to try and make this possible.
"If there are any Herefordshire based funding organisations who could help then we would be very interested in talking to them."
