AN appeal against the planning refusal of a caravan park has been dismissed.
The Planning Inspectorate agreed with Herefordshire councillors that a holiday park for 40 holiday caravans should not be developed on land in Stanford Bishop, Bringsty.
Last August a Herefordshire Council planning officer recommended the site for approval, but the Herefordshire Council planning committee took the decision to refuse it.
Mr and Mrs S Powell-Bateson appealed against the decision for the plans, which also included associated infrastructure and a managerial lodge.
But Inspector J P Tudor dismissed the appeal and said: "However, the cumulative impact of the proposal in extending caravan development westward across panoramic rural views, would cause significant harm to the character and appearance of the rural landscape.
"In this particular case, on balance, the adverse visual impact on the countryside outweighs the economic and tourism benefits of the proposal, which does not, therefore, amount to sustainable development."
