THE top award in Girlguiding has been presented to a Herefordshire commissioner.
Girlguiding Herefordshire organised a presentation event for Anne Llywelyn-Jones to receive her Silver Fish Award, which recognises an exceptional contribution to a wide section of Girlguiding.
There have only been 13 other recipients across the UK in the past five years.
The event included a lunch for her family and invited guests, followed by a presentation and afternoon tea.
The award was kept a secret from Anne until she was presented with it by region chief commissioner Abi Salter.
Anne said: “It was a great honour and a real surprise to receive this award – for once I was speechless.” She is currently joint county commissioner for Herefordshire and until recently was branches advisor, which involves supporting the nine British overseas territories.
A unit of Brownies in Gibraltar sent her a special congratulations video message.
