A 12-YEAR-old boy was taken to hospital this morning after being in an accident with a car outside a secondary school.
The ambulance service said they were called at 8.42am this morning to reports of a collision outside St Mary's High School in Lugwardine.
An ambulance spokesman said: "We sent an ambulance, a paramedic officer and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Strensham.
"We have treated a 12-year-old boy for cuts to the head and ankle pain. He was fully conscious and taken to Hereford by land ambulance."
Headteacher of the school Stuart Wetson, who has only been in his post for eight weeks, said his thoughts are with the boy and he wishes him a full and quick recovery.
He said: "I wish to express my sincere thanks to all of those parents and passing motorists and teachers who assisted in looking after the young man prior to the speedy arrival of the emergency services.
"I was also very impressed by the speed with which the emergency service did respond. They were on site very quickly."
Mr Wetson said at this stage it is difficult to determine which of the students witnessed the accident but support and or counselling will be provided to those who did.
The boy has been discharged from hospital and has not suffered any breaks or additional injuries.
