HEREFORDSHIRE Council is asking businesses and residents to share their views on proposed housing and employment development sites across the city.
Officers have launched the Hereford Area Plan consultation to gauge public opinion on the council’s four strategic development sites.
The council is looking at developing housing and employment land at Three Elms, Holmer West, Lower Bullingham and the city centre area.
These sites were previously identified in the council’s core strategy, adopted in 2015 and the council says they will meet a significant proportion of their target of 6,500 new homes by 2031.
But the council is looking to source further land development opportunities to achieve the remainder of its housing growth target.
Councillor Philip Price, Herefordshire Council’s cabinet member for infrastructure, said: “The council has identified a further 57 proposed housing sites and five possible employment sites across the city with the potential for development to meet current and future community needs.
“We want to hear from businesses and residents as we propose development sites which will enable the growth of Hereford City through new housing, employment and urban regeneration.
“The feedback we receive will help to decide future ‘preferred’ development sites to be recommended as part of the Hereford Area Plan planning and policy document for Hereford City and surrounding areas.”
Officers have carried out work to prepare potential site options to meet the delivery of housing and employment growth in the city and to help inform the preparation of the Hereford Area Plan.
Members of the public with questions about the proposed housing and employment sites can view the proposals from tomorrow (Friday) at Hereford Library until Friday, October 5.
The Hereford Area Plan consultation closes at midnight October 8.
